so anyway,

did you know that all of us were supposedly vegans a long time ago but we started eating chickens and cows and pigs etc but anyway, the appendix, i heard, was used for the very purpose but soon deteriorated after we stopped eating so much vegetables and started hunting animals instead. and, it's actually used to sort of keep us alive and disease-free when we're just out of the womb. alright.

"The appendix is the Rodney Dangerfield of organs. It gets no respect. But, according to Live Science, the appendix isn't as useless as everyone says.
The site explains that "after birth, the appendix mainly helps the body stave off disease by serving as a lymphoid organ."
Lymphoid organs make antibodies. Apparently, "the appendix also produces certain chemicals that help direct the white blood cells to the parts of the body where they are needed the most." Doesn't sound useless to us.
Still, not everyone agrees. Indiana University's "A Moment of Science" site writes that some scientists believe the appendix "might have served some purpose far back in our evolution," but that these days, it's useless.
One thing is for sure, people aren't aware of their appendix unless something goes wrong. One in fifteen people have to have their appendix removed."

also, the appendix grew smaller after we started eating meat to make more room for the stomach so i guess we were much skinnier a long time ago. hahaha.
